Virgo New Moon: A Perfect Time to Heal Your Nervous System
Sep 10, 2026
Happy Virgo new moon!
It's the perfect time to set the intention to heal your nervous system with the new moon happening tonight at 11:26pm Eastern time in the sign of Virgo at 18 degrees and 25 minutes.
π© If you're struggling to take consistent, inspired action for your purpose (or to do the simplest of everyday things), it's because your nervous system is incapacitated or shut down, not because you're a lazy, procrastinator. Please stop the negative and judgy self-talk. It's making your nervous system feel unsafe and the problem worse, not better.
To support you in healing your nervous system, I'm gonna share with you:
- the scary thing that happened to me that inspired me to write this email and offer my hard-earned wisdom with you
- how to know when your nervous system is crying out for your love and attention (it's not always obvious)
- exactly what I do (and have done over the past few years) to calm a frayed nervous system AND links to all the products I use
- 8 simple and empowering journal prompts to support your nervous system with everyday practices that are tailored to you, your lifestyle and needs
Here's why I'm sharing this with you and I'll try to keep it short...
βοΈ On my flight to Dallas on the way to Santa Barbara, we had an emergency landing. Out of nowhere the flight attendants started flittering about nervously, then came the announcement from the pilot that we'd be making an emergency landing and would need to brace for impact.
π³ Fortunately, the emergency landing was back at the airport I left from, but I didn't know that at first and my mind was picturing the WORST scenarios.
My body tensed up and my breathing was cut short. I was both terrified AND I knew that I'd be okay. It was very strange.
π When we landed at the airport, I could see 3 firetrucks with their lights on waiting for us and I cried because it became more real that things could've been so much worse, but I was so grateful that we were safe.
We pulled into the gate and got off the plane and honestly I wasn't sure I ever wanted to get on another one.
I just wanted to curl up in the fetal position and cry.
Can I just take a minute here to advocate for trauma processing rooms at every airport in the world?!
Flying when there is no incident can be anxiety inducing all by itself, just like when something stressful or traumatic actually happens. For that reason, I know so many humans could benefit from having a dedicated, non-judgmental space to process trauma at the airport.
When we experience a traumatic event in our bodies, we need to process it by moving it through us and out, but we don't get off the plane and scream, cry or shake like we need to, because we care too much about what others think and/or we don't know what our bodies need or how to give it to them.
Fortunately, the next flight they could get me on was nearly 5 hours later, so I had time to go home, process the traumatic event and honor my nervous system.
β€οΈπ©Ή I danced and shook and cried and curled up in hubby's arms and laid on the couch in the fetal position and took calming gummies and called in reiki and did breath work, all so I could get to a place where my nervous system wouldn't freak out when I got on a plane again.
Because of this, I felt inspired to share my nervous system practices with you. I know your nervous system has taken a beating over these past 6 years, at least, and most likely many times over the course of your lifetime. Being human is hard.
π© And our nervous systems become more sensitive in menopause...great! Right?! Who knew?! I didn't until it was happening to me.
π What better time to share this wisdom, than under the new moon in the sign of health (and perfectionism π ) ruled by the planet that brings anxiety, Mercury?!
Here are some signs your nervous system needs your love and attention:
- You feel anxious, depressed, stressed, and exhausted.
- You have trouble focusing, remembering stuff or making a decision.
- You procrastinate. Yes, procrastination is a nervous system response OR it's your intuition tryna steer you in a different direction. Either way, stop judging yourself for being lazy or unmotivated.
- Your sleep sucks. You struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep and are especially sensitive to the tiniest bit of light or noise when you're in bed.
- Things that used to bring you joy don't do that for you anymore.
- You're easily overwhelmed by even the smallest of tasks.
- You feel like you could cry at any moment.
- You're stressed the F out and feel like your anger could boil over at any moment causing you to lash out at your loved ones or even unsuspecting strangers.
- You're giving in to what other people want, need or expect of you because it's "just easier."
- Your rational brain shuts down when you're tryna have important conversations.
- You're using food, alcohol, drugs, TikTok, Netflix, busywork or other people's drama to drown out your emotions, pain or unpleasant physical sensations.
- This list is by no means exhaustive for all the ways your nervous system tries to let you know it's DONE, but it gives you a good idea of subtle (and not so subtle) ways it shows up for you.
The health of your nervous system dictates how you experience your everyday life.
This is a lesson I learned the hard way, mainly because my nervous system said "F*@$ you, Jen. I'm done. You've been ignoring me for YEARS and I can't take it anymore."
I realize now, looking back, that menopause played a huge role in the timing and experience of my burn out. It exacerbated the anxiety symptoms I had dealt with my entire life and made it impossible to ignore.
Because ignore my body and push through it is exactly what I did in the past. Perhaps you can relate or know someone who is struggling with nervous system overload or shutdown.
I wanna support you by sharing EVERYTHING I use to support my nervous system.
*Disclaimer: I'm sharing what I do. I'm offering it to you to give you ideas of how you can support yourself, but I'm not saying you should do any or all of these things. Always check with your doctor or therapist before adding anything new to your daily routine, especially supplements, as they can interact poorly with medications.
Caveat: I am a trained holistic health coach and it took me years to figure out what helps calm my nervous system, so be patient with yourself and try different practices until you find the combination that works best for you.
π¨ You don't need to fix yourself.
π You're not broken.
π Our world is.
So please, consider that you're creating sacred space in your day to intentionally honor your body, not fix it.
I know it sounds like work, but you're worth it.
- Your inner peace is worth it.
- Your joy is worth it.
- Your feeling at home and comfortable in your body is worth it.
- Your ability to have the energy and capacity to achieve and experience your PURPOSE is worth it.
π Here's a Google Doc sharing everything I do to support my nervous system, PLUS I share links to all the products I use and love.
I'm NOT an affiliate and I don't make a dime. I'm just sharing from my heart to yours. π«ΆπΌ
